COMPLE:X is a complextro compilation album released by K@keru Records. Eight composers created original instrumental music for this album. Complextro is a genre of music which is typified by glitchy, intricate basslines and textures created by sharply cutting between various instruments in quick succession. I designed the album cover to visualize the beauty and complexity of complextro.
DESIGN
The first step was to create an eye-catching symbol. I approached it from Kosuke’s initials, K.K. and designed the letter K by combining rectangles and hexagons. These shapes were chosen because they can represent a benzene ring and DNA helix when they are arranged regularly.<br><br>The next step was making a graphic and putting information into it. His previous business card was full of information and he asked me to inherit the style. It was challenging but I arranged it as a part of a DNA-inspired graphic and obtained both beauty and readability.
